The Dark Devine by Bree Despain

I found this book on Goodreads. One of my favorite authors Colleen Houck read it and really liked it.  So when I picked it up, I was excited to get started reading it. Here is a description from Amazon.

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared--the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in his own blood--but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held.

The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude's high school. Despite promising Jude she'll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel's shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry glint in his eyes.

The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boy's dark secret...and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it--her soul.

I loved this book from the start.  I was hooked just after reading the first page.  I was drawn to the "lost love came back" factor. Kept me turning the page as fast as I could read them.

Grace Devine is a strong compassionate main character. She was torn between her brother Jude and Daniel, the boy she is in love with. The story is built where any teenager can relate to her problems ( except for the paranormal part).  She has a boyfriend she is not suppose to see, she has curfews and obligations in her family life like any other teen. I like a story that you can relate to,  that you can see yourself having those same problems.

The Dark Devine is a mixture of paranormal romance, mystery, suspense with a little action thrown in.  I am so looking forward to reading The Lost Saints, which is the second book of the Dark Devine Trilogy. Check it out !

From A Book To A Movie

I went to the movies this weekend and watched " What's Your Number". One things I like about going to the movies are the previews.  So a preview came on with Katherine Heigl in it. Being  a big fan of hers , I was really excited to see what her new movie is about.  The movie is called "One For The Money" which is based on a series of novels written by Janet Evanovich. It was originally published in June of 1994.

I haven't read any of her books yet but after watching that preview I am definitely going to put "One For The Money" on my to read list. The movie will be in theaters on January 27th of 2012. Here is a sneak peak for you to check out!

I think I am going to love this movie and the best part is that I can read the book before it even comes out in the theaters  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

OK! So here it is, my first official book blog.  I am happy to say it is of a book I  liked a lot.  Silence is the third book in the Hush Hush Saga. The first two are of course Hush Hush and Crescendo.  The Saga starts with Nora Grey who falls in love with a fallen angel named Patch.  Lots of crazy cool stuff happens in Hush Hush and Crescendo but I don't want to spoil it for the peeps that haven't had the opportunity to check them out.

So here is a little description from Becca Fitzpatrick's web site of what Silence is about.

The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

This book is fulfilling. It has every thing you could possible want in a book. The main character is strong minded and fights for what she want. I hate reading books with a MC that is always like" omg I don't know what I'm going to do". Strong MCs makes a strong book, right? The romance in the book is sweet and hot at the same time.  It's perfect.  The action is non stop. This is a complete page turner, there is always some part that makes you want to keep reading even though it is 2:00 in the morning and you have to be up at 6:00 to go to work. You just keep saying I am going to finish this chapter. It's really great, but don't take my word for it check it out for yourself, you wont regret it.

Something Funny To Put A Smile On Your Face

I'm not hating on Twilight or Edward but this is funny! It is great how the rules of being a vampire is different in every book.
